Kaas Plateau: The Kaas Plateau is in the Indian state of Maharashtra, near the town of Satara. It achieved recognition in 1995 when it was declared a biosphere reserve by UNESCO. The plateau is located at an altitude between 600 and 900 metres, and slopes from east to west. The soil is formed from volcanic ash and red-brown basaltic gravels, with a high clay content which makes it highly fertile for agriculture. The Kaas Plateau has been declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1995 due to its rich state of natural biodiversity that includes several rare endangered species of flora and fauna.

Things to do: Take a hike to explore the many varieties of flora and fauna in the garden, take a swim in the Kaas Lake, and take a piece of souvenir (may it be a flower itself) as memorabilia from this place.

Venna Lake: This lake is situated near a hill station called Panchgani. The extremely scenic and picturesque surroundings make it a perfect destination for boaters and campers alike. Venna is a lake located in Panchgani and it is 3.2 km in length, with average breadth of 400 metres. It was constructed by damming the rivers Venna and Khandra which originate from the Brahmagiri hills and provide water to the city of Pune. The most famous picnic spot on this vast expanse of water is a natural island which has become popular as Omkareshwar Temple. 

Things to do: Take a boat ride to the middle of the lake and take a detour to the Mahabaleshwar market to unwind from the rigorous activities of the day by shopping and eating desserts.

Pratapgad fort : For the people who are fond of hiking and admiring the beauty of nature, a visit to Pratapgad fort located in Satara. This is one of the best tourist places in Panchgani which is famous for its own rich history. Located at a distance of 22 kms away from Mahabaleshwar, this fort is situated at a height of 1,080 meters above sea level. The purpose of building this fort was to connect the villages of Par and Kinesvar. Surrounded by the lush greenery, this fort is an epitome of architectural beauty.

Things to do: Relish in the architectural history of the fort, take a detour for a local experience into the villages of Par and Kinesvar, and climb to the highest point for a view of the area.
